La Chouette Ecole International is ...
a small playgroup centre, willing to inspire a passion for learning with the development of emotional intelligence and social awareness through language acquisition. We also have the objective to promote environmental consciousness in Hong Kong.
We want to offer the opportunity to children to experience a very unique educational philosophy. We are inspired by various approachs including Montessori, Reggio Emilia and some tidbits of what we have learned during this journey called life.
La Chouette Ecole welcomes children from 2 to 6 years old from Monday to Friday. We also offer baby classes (1h15) from 9 months old.
Activities are carried out in English or French by native speakers in order to provide a truly foreign-language education. We also offer a Mandarin option on Wednesdays mornings.
Our program respects the standards of the French Education Department.
Each evening after teaching has finished, children may remain in after-school care, or join extracurricular activities.
We focus on:
Instilling a love of learning in children.
Small class sizes.
A personalized teaching program which allows children to progress according to their own individual pace, and not just to their age.
Teaching multiple languages by incorporating them into other fundamental areas of learning.
An active teaching method that offers children some autonomy, and allows them to enjoy the pleasure of expressing themselves from the very first class.
Raising awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and starting life living healthy.
A wide choice of cultural, theatrical, artistic, musical and sports activities taught by visiting staff specially trained in these areas, encouraging the child to blossom both artistically and intellectually.
We accept children who are not yet potty-trained. In fact, these children learn very quickly to use the toilets watching the older ones.
Director and Curriculum Designer
Living in Hong Kong since 2011, Aurelie Conort is married and has two beautiful girls, 4 & 2 years old. Having not found suitable education for her children and as a early childhood schoolteacher herself, she decided to open her own playgroup. Aurelie is passionate about the environment and makes sure it is part of the programme. She incorporates into the curriculum all the best teaching philosophies. Aurelie believes it takes a village to raise a child and would like to provide a platform for such a community in Hong Kong.
